Darby Dan Farm’s first-year stallion Blazing Sevens, a Classic-placed son of Good Magic and impressive winner of the historic Champagne S. (G1) at two, will be shuttling to Chile for the Southern Hemisphere breeding season, it was announced today. In a deal brokered by Sullivan Bloodstock, Blazing Sevens will stand the upcoming Southern Hemisphere season at Haras Santa Olga in Santiago, Chile.
“Darby Dan Farm is pleased to continue our relationship with Haras Santa Olga,” said Stuart Fitzgibbon, Darby Dan Farm’s stallion director. “Blazing Sevens’ popularity and success with breeders was a testament to his superior conformation, fertility, and libido, and as a son of Good Magic, we fully expect Blazing Sevens to have significant global appeal. We’re excited to see his influence extend to the Southern Hemisphere.”
Blazing Sevens won the stallion-making Champagne S. (G1) at two in just his third career outing. He overcame a troubled start in the Champagne, making a sweeping move five-wide on the far turn to score by an impressive 3 ¼ lengths for trainer Chad Brown. The precocious colt was Classic-placed the following season at three, beaten just a head by multiple Grade 1 winner National Treasure in the Preakness S. (G1) at Pimlico. All told, Blazing Sevens banked $998,850 during his accomplished racing career.
By Eclipse Champion and leading stallion Good Magic, the sire of Grade 1 winners Dornoch, Muth, Mixto, and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Mage, Blazing Sevens is out of the winning Warrior’s Reward mare Trophy Girl, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner King David and stakes winner Bertsgoldenmissile. Bred in Kentucky by Tracy Farmer, Blazing Sevens was a $225,000 graduate of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Sale.
